Pro Tip: Make A Playlist With The Same BPM As Your Car’s Turn Signal
Greetings, Programs! I could talk about a million different things or update you all on what I’ve been cooking these past several months, but instead of any of that I’ll keep this one short and sweet as a PSA of sorts. Over the past few years I’ve been slowly building up a playlist of songs I enjoy that have exactly the same BPM as my car’s turn signal. Not all makes and models have the same speed at which you can hear the clicks of your activated turn signal, but my playlist perfectly reflects what that value is for my car. I recently learned that not many people in my life have done this, so, inspired by the mood-booster it’s been for me, I figured I would make a short post here to get the word out: you should make a playlist where the songs all have the same BPM as your car’s turn signal!
This process works best when the two are exactly in sync with each other, so as a test I like to listen to a song in its entirety with my turn signal turned on (or at least most of it - enough of the song to make me confident that the rest would sync up as well) to ensure the two don’t drift out of sync with each other, as often happens. There are so many “near misses” that fail this test, but the few that pass are granted admission to the playlist of my dreams. They’re all great songs in their own right, but when I’m listening to the playlist and end up stopped at a red light with my turn signal on for a bit, that synchronicity is such a rush!!!
So, pro tip: having the music you’re listening to while driving perfectly synced up with the clicks from your turn signal is quite the dopamine rush. Creating a playlist of those songs has proven to be the gift that keeps on giving in my life - it could be in yours, too.
(And yes, of course the image for this post is the cover of Laufey’s album "Everything I Know About Love” because “Fragile” is the song that inspired this PSA in the first place.)
